ReSurge International Surgical Outreach Program (RISOP)
ReSurge International, a nonprofit INGO based in California, USA, builds surgical capacity and provides reconstructive surgical care for those who lack access in developing countries. We restore the dreams of those with deformities and injuries, and impact the world by renewing the health of thousands of children and adults each year so they can go to school, provide for their families and contribute to society. More than 85 percent of all of our surgery are provided year-round by developing world surgical partners, with ReSurge oversight, training and support.
ReSurge’s mission is to provide reconstructive surgical care and build surgical capacity in developing countries. The organization’s goals are:
- Build surgical skills in low-resource settings by creating and deploying surgical and educational programs;
- Increase access to high-quality surgical care for the poor by developing the next generation of humanitarian reconstructive surgeons and their local teams;
- Restore function and improve lives by providing the full scope of reconstructive surgery for more poor children and adults.
With training and support from ReSurge, phect-NEPAL provides free reconstructive surgical care to more than 1,000 patients annually through organized surgical camps in different locations of the country. They also responded to the significant surgical needs of the Nepal Earthquake victims, treating more than 800 patients and providing major surgery for more than 250 patients.
